One-to-one AI coaching · Kent and UK-wide
Learn AI on your own work, two hours, one-to-one
This is for owners and managers who want to get properly comfortable with AI before deciding what their staff should do with it. We spend two hours on the jobs that fill your week, in the tools you already have, at your workplace locally or by video. You leave with prompts and assistants saved in your own account, and a short written summary of what we covered.

Bring the jobs that fill your week
Before we meet, we'll ask for a short list of the tasks that take up your time. These are typical:
- EmailGetting through a full inbox, replying in your own tone, and turning a long thread into three lines you can act on.
- Quotes and proposalsGoing from rough notes or a voice memo to a tidy quote, with your prices and terms checked by you rather than made up by the AI.
- MarketingPosts, a Google Business Profile update, a newsletter, written so they sound like you.
- PlanningThinking through a price rise, a hire or a new service with an assistant that asks you the awkward questions.
- SpreadsheetsAsking plain-English questions of your sales or costs, and getting help with formulas you'd normally have to look up.
- ResearchLooking into a supplier, a competitor or a new regulation, and learning to check the sources the AI gives you.
What two hours can look like
Every session follows your own list, so this is only an example, for an owner whose business runs on Microsoft 365.
| When | What we work on | What you keep |
|---|---|---|
| First 15 minutes | Your tools and settings: which plan you're on, whether chats are used for training, what never goes in | A note of your safe settings |
| Next 30 minutes | Your inbox: summaries, replies in your voice, answers to the questions customers ask most | Saved prompts for your three most common emails |
| Next 30 minutes | A real quote or proposal, built from your notes | A quote assistant loaded with your price list and terms |
| Next 30 minutes | A spreadsheet or report you look at every week | Questions you can reuse each month |
| Last 15 minutes | What to try next, and what you might hand to staff | A short written summary |
On site in Canterbury, Whitstable, Herne Bay, Faversham or Thanet with no travel charge, elsewhere in Kent at 45p a mile, or by video anywhere.
Start with what you already pay for
You may not need a new subscription at all. Microsoft 365 business plans include Copilot Chat at no extra cost, and Google Workspace's Business Starter plan includes Gemini in Gmail (both checked October 2026). If you use ChatGPT or Claude on a personal plan, we'll find the setting that decides whether your chats help train the model, and switch it off if you'd rather they didn't.
Why learn it yourself before training staff
Without this step, a business can easily end up with one of two problems. Staff use free AI tools quietly, with customer details pasted in, or a tool is bought for everyone and hardly touched. Two hours on your own work puts things in the right order: you find out what AI is good and bad at in your business, so the rules you set and the training you choose are realistic.
From there, the natural next steps are a written AI policy or AI training for your staff. Or you may decide you're the only one who needs it for now, which is fine too. If marketing is your main interest, the AI for marketing session uses the same two hours for that alone.

Is one-to-one AI training worth it for a business owner?
It suits owners who learn by doing and want answers to their own questions rather than general ones. If you'd rather read first, the £39.99 handbook covers the basics, and the free 15-minute call will help you decide.
Can the coaching be done by video?
Yes. We share screens over Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams, and you work in your own accounts while we talk you through it.
Which AI tool will we use?
Usually the one you already have: ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Google Gemini or Claude. If you haven't chosen yet, we'll try two of them on one of your real tasks and compare.
Do we need a paid AI subscription?
No. Free plans are enough for a first session. If a paid plan would make a real difference to your work, we'll explain what it adds and what it costs.
What should we prepare?
A list of five or six tasks that take your time, and a couple of real examples such as an email thread or an old quote. Remove customer details first if you'd prefer.
Can we book more than one session?
Yes, one at a time, whenever it would help. A follow-up about a month later often works well once you've tried things out. There's no package or subscription.

Who you'll work with
James Hayes Consulting is led by Ross Hayes, who builds software for his own businesses and uses AI tools in them every day. We set AI up on your real work, explain it in plain English, and tell you straight if something isn’t worth paying for.
Every project starts with a free 15-minute call, and prices are agreed in writing before you commit.
