ChatGPT training · Kent and by video
ChatGPT training for your business, using your own work
GPT-6 arrived in ChatGPT on 7 October 2026, and custom GPTs are on their way out. Underneath the news, a small business has the same three questions: which plan to pay for, what staff must keep out of it, and how to get answers you can use. We teach all three on your real emails, quotes and documents.

ChatGPT plans for a small business, compared
Your plan decides two things that matter to a business: which model you get, and whether your conversations can be used to train OpenAI's models.
| Plan | UK price | Model | Used for training? | Good to know |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | £0 | GPT-6 Luna | Yes, unless you switch it off | Ads may appear. Limited uploads, images and memory. Projects included. |
| Go | £7 a month | GPT-6 Luna | Yes, unless you switch it off | Ads may appear. Can create Plugins. |
| Plus | £20 a month | GPT-6 Sol | Yes, unless you switch it off | No ads. Record mode, ChatGPT Work, apps that connect to work tools. |
| Business | £15 per user a month paid yearly, or £18 monthly; minimum 2 users | GPT-6 Sol | No, not by default | No ads. Admin controls, shared workspace, company knowledge across tools like Microsoft 365 and Google Drive. |
| Pro | From £89 a month | GPT-6 Sol | Yes, unless you switch it off | For very heavy individual use. |
UK prices on chatgpt.com, checked October 2026. OpenAI doesn't say whether they include VAT. GPT-6 Luna reaches Free and Go from 8 October 2026.
Which plan we'd suggest
Working on your own: Plus at £20 a month, with model training switched off, covers most sole traders' needs. Free is fine for trying things, but ads and limits get in the way.
Two or more people: Business. On annual billing it costs less per person than Plus, chats aren't used for training by default, and the business controls who's in the workspace.
On Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace already? Copilot Chat or Gemini may cover the basics, and we'll say if ChatGPT isn't worth adding. See AI training for your staff, and our free guide Is ChatGPT safe? Ten answers.
What the training covers
-
Settings first
On personal plans, switch off "Improve the model for everyone" under Data controls. A thumbs up or down can still send a chat for training; Temporary Chats aren't used for it. -
Prompts built on your tasks
Three or four jobs you do every week, with prompts written together and tested on real examples. -
Projects for repeated work
A Project keeps related chats, files and instructions together: one for quotes, one for marketing, one for supplier emails. -
Checking what comes back
ChatGPT can state wrong facts confidently. We practise spotting invented figures and dates, and agree what a person checks. -
What stays out
Bank details, health information, passwords, staff matters and confidential work. On a personal plan, customer names and contact details too. -
Writing it down
The team workshop ends with a one-page safe-use policy, so the rules outlast the day.
A prompt that works, and one that doesn't
Most disappointing answers come from short prompts. Compare these two, for a heating engineer replying to a complaint.
Weak: Write a reply to this complaint.
Better: You're replying for a small heating firm in Kent. The customer below says the boiler we serviced last week is making a noise. Write a reply under 120 words: apologise once, offer a free revisit on Tuesday or Thursday morning, and don't guess at the cause. Friendly, plain tone. If anything is unclear, ask us before writing.
The second gives a role, the facts, a length, what to offer and what not to say. The same pattern works for quotes, job adverts and spreadsheet formulas. Whichever model you're on, it can't know your prices or your diary unless you tell it.
Built custom GPTs? Read this
On 11 September 2026 OpenAI announced that custom GPTs are being retired in favour of Plugins, starting with Enterprise workspaces on 11 December 2026, with other plans expected to follow. New GPTs can't be created on personal accounts now. Existing ones still work, but we wouldn't build anything new on them: Projects cover most small-business uses. To have yours rebuilt, see custom AI assistants.

Questions people ask
Is ChatGPT safe to use for business?
It can be, on the right plan with sensible rules: a Business plan, or model training switched off on a personal one, and no bank details, health information or passwords.
Does ChatGPT use our business data for training?
On Free, Go, Plus and Pro it may, unless you turn the setting off. On Business and Enterprise, conversations aren't used for training by default.
Which ChatGPT plan should a small business buy?
For one person, usually Plus. For two or more, Business, for its data terms and admin controls. Check what Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace already includes first.
What is GPT-6?
OpenAI's newest model family, launched in ChatGPT on 7 October 2026. Paid plans get GPT-6 Sol; Free and Go get GPT-6 Luna, rolling out from 8 October.
Can we still make a custom GPT?
Only in a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace, and not for long: Enterprise stops new GPTs on 26 October 2026, and GPTs are being retired. We'd build new assistants as Projects or Plugins instead.
Is there a ChatGPT course we can do online?
Yes. Coaching and staff briefings work well by video, anywhere in the UK. The team workshop is a day on site in Kent; further afield it runs as two half-days by video, at the same price.
