Hospitality & holiday lets · Kent coast
AI for pubs, cafés, restaurants and B&Bs
On the Kent coast the season is short and busy, and the admin doesn't pause for it. AI can draft review replies between services, answer booking emails, rough out a rota and translate your house information for visitors. What it can't do is tell anyone what's in the food.

Jobs to hand over between services
- Review repliesPaste the review, say what happened that night, and ask for three sentences that thank them, own up to the cold chips and invite them back.
- Booking enquiries'Reply to this request for 12 on a Saturday: we can do 7.30 and groups over eight pay a deposit.' You check and send.
- Menu descriptions'Pork belly, apple, cider sauce' becomes a line that sells the dish. Allergens come from your recipe records, not from this.
- RotasAvailability, opening hours and who can run the bar alone, turned into a draft week for you to fix.
- Visitor informationHouse rules, Wi-Fi instructions and directions to the beach in French, German or Dutch.
- Supplier orders and training sheetsThe weekly order email from your stock count, and a how-to sheet for cashing up dictated by whoever knows the job.
Allergens stay with people
Food businesses must give information on 14 allergens, from celery and mustard to sesame, lupin and sulphites, for every non-prepacked item containing them, and food prepacked on the premises for direct sale needs a full ingredients label with allergens emphasised. That's from the Food Standards Agency's allergen guidance, updated July 2026.
AI can't see your recipes, a supplier's substitution or the fryer you share. It doesn't write allergen information and it doesn't answer allergy questions, in a chatbot or an email. A person with the recipe book does.
Who signs off what

Tools you may already have
Most of this works from a phone with the free ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini apps. Newer phones also translate conversations: Apple's translation of live calls and messages works in UK English on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, and Samsung's Interpreter covers 22 languages on Galaxy phones from the S24 onwards. Handy at the bar when a visitor's English and your Dutch both run out.
Booking systems such as OpenTable and ResDiary, and platforms such as Airbnb and Booking.com, have their own messaging. Check whether yours has added AI reply features, and what it shares, before relying on them. A website assistant can answer questions about opening times, parking and dogs, and pass anything else, allergies included, to you.
Reviews, guests' details and the bill
No AI-written five-star reviews, however quiet February gets: the DMCC Act 2024 bans fake reviews, and the regulator's guidance names those produced by bots and other software. The CMA opened investigations into five companies over reviews in March 2026. Getting help replying to genuine reviews is fine.
Booking emails carry names, phone numbers and sometimes health notes. Strip those out before using a free AI tool, or work in a paid business tier where your text isn't used for training. Watch the price wording too: drip pricing, where unavoidable charges appear only after the headline price, is banned. For posts and offers, see AI for your marketing.
What a Kick-Start would look at first
Half a day on a quiet morning, working on your own reviews, inbox and rota.
Review replies in your voice
A saved prompt with your tone, sign-off and a few past replies, so each reply takes a minute on your phone.
The enquiry inbox
Templates for groups, functions, dogs and parking, and a check of whether Gemini in Gmail or Copilot in Outlook is already in your subscription.
One rota or ordering shortcut
Whichever eats more of your week. Three working days later you have a written plan, and if Managed AI set-up, or a build quoted at £1,000 or more, follows within 60 days, you've already paid £395 of it.
Book the Kick-StartQuestions people ask
Can AI write allergen information for our menu?
No. What's in a dish is known only from your recipes and suppliers' specifications, checked by a person. AI can describe it, not vouch for it.
Should we use AI to reply to Google reviews?
It drafts replies quickly, which helps in a busy week. Read each one, correct anything about the visit, and keep guests' and staff names out.
Can AI answer booking enquiries for our B&B?
It can draft replies for you to send, or answer routine questions through a website assistant. Availability, prices and anything about health or access should come from you.
Is it legal to post AI-written reviews?
No. Reviews that don't come from a genuine guest's experience are illegal under the DMCC Act 2024, whether a person or a bot wrote them.
Can you come before we open?
Yes. Mornings before service often work well, and half a day on site can wrap up before a lunchtime opening.
