WhatsApp chatbot cost in Ghana: an honest guide for 2026
WhatsApp chatbot cost in Ghana is hard to compare, because almost nobody publishes a price: when we searched in October 2026, we found no Accra developer or agency listing chatbot builds in cedis. Quotes are made one enquiry at a time. So this page explains what each part of a quote should cover, what Meta charges per message, and our own starting prices, from £395 (about $520).

What you get at each price
Without published cedi bands, compare quotes by what they include. These are the five kinds of offer you are likely to see.
| Option | What you get | How it is priced | Ask before you pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| WhatsApp Business app | Greeting and away messages, quick replies, labels, a catalogue | Free | Who answers when the phone is off? |
| Self-serve platform | A bot builder and shared inbox you set up yourself | Monthly subscription, plus messages billed on the platform's own rate card | Is Meta's fee shown separately from theirs? |
| Freelance build | A bot built to your brief, often on a platform like the one above | One-off quote | Who owns the WhatsApp account and the bot afterwards? |
| Agency build with MoMo and CRM | Several flows, payment links, a CRM and handover to staff | Quote plus monthly support | What does support include, and how fast do they respond? |
| Our quoted options | An automation or website assistant in your own accounts, documented at handover | From £395 (about $520), quoted in advance | Tool and message fees are paid by you to the providers |
Checked October 2026. We found no published Ghanaian price bands, so we have not invented any.
What drives the price
- Mobile moneyTaking a deposit means connecting a payment gateway. Paystack, for example, supports MTN, AirtelTigo and Telecel mobile money in Ghana, sending a prompt to the customer's phone. Confirming the payment from the gateway, not from a screenshot, is the part worth paying for.
- How many jobs it doesAnswering questions, taking orders, booking appointments and sending receipts are separate flows, each with its own testing.
- Where the answers liveA bot that reads from a Google Sheet you update is cheaper to keep right than one with prices typed into its settings.
- LanguagesEnglish is the easy part. If customers write in Twi, Ga or Pidgin, budget for testing on your real messages before anything goes live.
- Data protectionCustomer chats are personal data under the Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843), so your business should be registered with the Data Protection Commission and the chat records kept in your own systems.
WhatsApp Business API cost in Accra
Meta charges per delivered template message (marketing, utility and authentication); ordinary replies inside the 24-hour window after a customer's message are free. In August 2026 YEN.com.gh reported that those replies would cost money from 1 October 2026, but Meta's list of pricing updates, checked in October 2026, did not show that change and still said all non-template messages are free. Ask your provider to confirm in writing. The fees apply to the WhatsApp Business Platform, the API used by chatbots, not to the free WhatsApp Business app on a phone.
Meta sets rates by the customer's country code; Ghanaian numbers (+233) fall in its "Rest of Africa" region, and marketing messages cost more than utility messages such as receipts. Reported per-message figures for Ghana differ between sources, so we have left them out. The rate card on Meta's pricing page is the one to trust, checked October 2026.
Two practical points. Chats that begin from a click-to-WhatsApp advert get a longer free window, so advertising can change your bill. And a bill in dollars moves with the cedi, so ask whether your provider charges you in cedis or dollars.
Payment links add their own fee per transaction. Paystack's help pages list MTN, AirtelTigo and Telecel as the mobile money networks it supports in Ghana; other gateways publish their own lists and charges.
Red flags when you buy
- The number is registered to the supplierYour WhatsApp Business Account should sit in your own Meta business portfolio. Otherwise, leaving the supplier can mean leaving your number behind.
- One bundled "per message" priceAsk for Meta's fee and the supplier's charge on separate lines, so you can see any markup.
- Broadcasts to a bought listUnder Act 843, direct marketing needs prior consent. A supplier offering blasts to numbers you didn't collect is offering you a problem.
- Payment confirmed from a screenshotFake MoMo alerts are easy to make. Release goods or bookings only on confirmation from the gateway or your merchant account.
- "Set it and forget it"Prices, staff and opening hours change. Ask who updates the answers next month, and the cost of each change.
Our options for Ghanaian businesses
Prices in pounds sterling, invoiced and paid by international bank transfer within 7 days; dollar figures are a guide at October 2026 rates. No UK VAT is added. Ask your accountant whether any Ghanaian tax applies to services bought from abroad.
A WhatsApp agent of our own is in build
The JHC Sector Agent will work on your own WhatsApp Business number: answer, qualify, book, send a MoMo or card link where your provider supports it, log the chat and pass it to staff. It is still being built, with no price or date. See how this applies to Ghanaian hotels and property developers, or the Ghana overview.
Questions people ask
How much does a mobile money chatbot cost in Ghana?
There is no published local price list. Expect a build quote, a gateway fee on each payment and Meta's message fees. Our quoted automations start from £395 (about $520).
What is the AI chatbot price in Ghana cedis?
We couldn't find Ghanaian suppliers publishing cedi prices in October 2026, so get at least two written quotes that list flows, integrations and monthly charges separately.
Is WhatsApp now charging Ghanaian businesses per message?
For template messages on the WhatsApp Business Platform, yes. Ghanaian press reported that replies inside the 24-hour window would be charged from 1 October 2026, but Meta's own updates page did not show that when we checked in October 2026. The free app is not affected.
Do I need the API, or is the WhatsApp Business app enough?
If one or two people answer and volumes are modest, the app's quick replies may be enough. The API makes sense once you want AI drafting, several staff on one number or a CRM link.
Can you invoice us in cedis?
No. We invoice in pounds sterling, payable by international bank transfer within 7 days, so the cost in cedis depends on the rate when you pay.
