Whitstable · seasonal trade and lessons at home
AI lessons and AI help for businesses in Whitstable
Visitors spent £42.7 million in Whitstable in 2024, and traders quoted in the council's town centre strategy describe their year as "famine and feast". I help the town's cafés, shops, galleries and holiday lets use AI to keep up in the busy months and plan in the quiet ones. I also give one-to-one AI lessons in Whitstable homes.
Whitstable, Tankerton, Chestfield, Swalecliffe and Seasalter: no travel charge for home lessons or business visits.
AI through a Whitstable year
Peak season
When you're flat out
Deal with messages in one sitting at the end of the day: AI drafts replies to booking enquiries and reviews in your tone, and you approve each one before it's sent.

When there's time to plan
Rework menus and price lists, and write a twelve-month posting plan in an afternoon, so you're not inventing posts in the middle of August.

A house guide, check-in messages and local tips written once and kept up to date, instead of retyping the Wi-Fi details every changeover day.
What a home lesson in Whitstable can cover
£149 for two hours, one-to-one on your own phone, tablet or computer. You keep a printed guide written for you, and you can ring me with questions for two weeks afterwards. Your passwords and bank details stay yours, family are welcome, and I sell nothing on the day.
- Your camera as a guidePoint it at a plant, a label or a sign on the beach and ask what you're looking at.
- Photos and short videosTidy up pictures, bring old prints back to life and turn a day's clips into something worth sharing.
- Planning with AIA trip, a family event or a project at home, with AI doing the first draft and you deciding.
- Staying safeHow cloned voices and AI-written messages work, and setting a safe word with your family.
Free help at Whitstable Library
Whitstable Library on Oxford Street runs a free Digital Hub on the first Wednesday of the month, 10:30am to 12:30pm, with volunteers on hand. If you need help getting online in the first place, go there first. When you're ready for AI on your own devices, with someone beside you for two hours, ring me. For pictures in particular, see photo and video lessons.
Two rules for busy weekends
Allergens stay with a person. AI can tidy the wording of a menu, but it can get ingredients wrong. Allergen information has to come from your recipes and be checked by someone who knows them.
Reviews must be genuine. Since April 2025 the Competition and Markets Authority has been able to fine businesses directly under the DMCC Act, and its fake reviews guidance covers reviews generated by software. Use AI to help you answer reviews, not to write them.
Questions from Whitstable
Is there a business association in Whitstable?
I haven't found an active chamber or traders' group for the town. Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce covers all of Kent, and Canterbury City Council ran marketing and social media support for Whitstable and Herne Bay businesses from April 2025 to March 2026.
When should a Whitstable business book a Kick-Start?
Any time works, but the quieter months usually leave more room to try things before the season. I can start early, before you open.
Can AI answer holiday-let guests for me?
It can draft replies and keep answers to common questions ready. I'd still have a person approve messages, and be open with guests when a reply is automated.
Can my neighbours join the lesson?
Yes. The friends and neighbours session is £199 and covers up to four of you in one house for two hours, each on your own device.

Who you'll work with
James Hayes Consulting is led by Ross Hayes, who builds software for his own businesses and uses AI tools in them every day. We set AI up on your real work, explain it in plain English, and tell you straight if something isn’t worth paying for.
Every project starts with a free 15-minute call, and prices are agreed in writing before you commit.
